Graveside funeral services for Dan Esland, 77, of Quincy, Fla., were held Thursday, March 4, at Smith Grove Church Cemetery in Attapulgus with Elder Samel McMillian officiating.
A group of Mr. Esland’s family and friends served as active pallbearers.
Born Oct. 23, 1932, in Helen, Ala., Mr. Esland died on Feb. 25, 2010, at Tallahassee (Fla.) Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Esland and his family moved to Quincy, Fla., when he was young. He made a living through farming, retiring later due to health concerns.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Robinson, Lillie Esland and Thelma Frank; and two brothers, Frank Esland and Willie James Esland.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Gordon of Attapulgus and Irene Dixon of Gainesville, Ga.; two brothers, Lewis Esland Jr. of Gainesville, Ga., and Winford Esland of Orlando, Fla.; and a host of other family and friends.
Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
