The annual Sam Howell Pars for Paws Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society, will be Monday, Feb. 15, at Bainbridge Country Club.
The tournament, which is in its fourth year, was renamed last year in honor and memory of Howell because of his life-long love and care of animals and his avid enjoyment of golf. Howell died Jan. 14, 2008.
Last year’s tournament winning team of Stuart Griffin, Tuffy and Becky Nussbaum and Matt Palmer was given the title Sam’s Team 2009. Howell normally played in tournaments with any three of those four team members.
The tournament will be played under a four-person scramble format with each team member hitting their second shot from the spot of the longest tee shot. It will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Registration fee is $50 per person, which includes a noon lunch and registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 12. Registration forms are available at Bainbridge Country Club.
Mulligans will be available at two for $5.
All teams will be assigned a total team handicap based on individual handicaps calculated using the U.S. Golf Association (USGA) handicapping formula. Prizes will be based on the number of teams entered in the tournament.
