Funeral services for Lillian S. Rodgers, 92, of Donalsonville, were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Revs. Kirk Loyless and James Scarborough and Dr. Gary Smith officiating.

Interment followed at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, Ga., with Billy Coy Williams, Earnest Ponder, Lewis Carter Jr., David Barfield, Ken Regan and Ron Foskey serving as active pallbearers.

Born Oct. 3, 1917, in Hendersonville, Tenn., Mrs. Rodgers died on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the Donalsonville Hospital.

Mrs. Rodgers attended Howard Grove Freewill Baptist Church and retired after 30 years as a postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service.

She was a past president and current member of Post Master Association of Florida; past president of Freewill Baptist Church Association of Florida, past president of PTO; past president of State Women’s Auxiliary of Florida; 1969 rural carrier of the year for State of Florida; and a member of Donalsonville Garden Club. She also taught Sunday School for 55 years and enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney Rodgers and Ron Rodgers, both of Donalsonville; a step son, Jimmy Rodgers of Dothan, Ala.; a step-grandson, Darrien Rodgers of Dothan, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
