YMCA basketball action continues

Youth basketball action continued last week at the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA with games on Tuesday and Thursday.

Tuesday action featured two contests in the 6-year-old and under division and two games in the 10-year-old and under division.

Six-and-under competitions are scrimmage contests and no running scores are kept.

In the opening 6-year-old and under scrimmage, the Tigers, coached by Germaine Dudley, took on the Volunteers, coached by Kelvin Bouie. Dylun Worlds led the Tigers with 12 points and Nyji Sparrow led the Volunteers with 10 points.

In the second 6-year-old and under scrimmage, the Wildcats, coached by Donnie Pemberton, took on the Bulldogs, coached by Steve Brown. The Wildcats were led by Dorrian Cooper with 8 points, and the Bulldogs were led by Connor Poitevint with 15 points.

In the first 10-and-under game, the Tigers, coached by James Cosby, defeated the Buckeyes, coached by Sheldon Pratt, 16-6.

Latisha Cosby led the Tigers with 7 points, and David Smart led the Buckeyes with 6 points.

The Blue Devils, coached by Randy Soden, edged the Spartans, coached by Kelvin Washington, 20-18, in the final 10-and-under game.

Martavious Flowers led the Blue Devils with 8 points, and Jaden Worlds led the Spartans with 10 points.

Thursday games were played in the 8-year-old and under and 12-year-old and under leagues.

In 8-year-old and under action, the Panthers, coached by Timothy Tarver, defeated the Longhorns, coached by Tom Wheeler and Lerone Broadnax, 31-14.

Donavon Mobley and Timothy Tarver Jr. led the way for the Panthers with 8 points apiece. Pacing the Longhorns’ attack was Jeremiah Davis with 10.

Twelve-year-old and under action featured the Yellow Jackets, coached by Berry Shine and Willie Burke, defeating the Seminoles, coached by Lamar Washington, 31-11.

Jadarius Murphy led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 15 points. Jeremiah Hodge was high scorer for the Seminoles with 5.
