A memorial service for Paul R. Lankford, 77, of Bainbridge, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Sayers officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Born Dec. 7, 1932, in Madisonville, Tenn., Mr. Lankford died on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.

Mr. Lankford served in the U.S. Marines, worked in heavy equipment construction and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rowena Bates Lankford.

Survivors include three sons, Wesley Lankford of Bainbridge, Ricky Lankford of Eugene, Ore., and Terry Lankford of Bainbridge; four brothers, David Lankford, Gary Lankford and Rick Lankford, all of Athens, Tenn., and Kenny Lankford of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Betty Ann Lankford and Brenda Lankford, both of Athens, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
