Funeral services for Martin Cornelius “M.C.” Gray, 85, of Newton, Ga., will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla, Ga., with the Rev. Preston Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow in Travelers Rest Church Cemetery with Kenneth Deese, Ray Gray Jr., Blake Gray, Clay Gray, Damon Deese and Josh Milner serving as active pallbearers.

Born July 1, 1924, in Grady County, Ga., Mr. Gray died on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at his residence in Newton.

Mr. Gray was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during World War II. Mr. Gray was a former member of the Baker County Board of Education and the Baker County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5474. He was a farmer and also worked for the Baker County Tax Assessors Office. He was a member of Pilgrim’s Home Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Georgia Dismuke Gray; a stepson, Elbert Deese; a sister, Christine Harrell; and a great-granddaughter, Niki Dollar.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Gray of Newton; two sons, Dan Gray and Ray Gray, both of Newton; a sister, Hilda Stephens of Montgomery, Ala.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a special caregiver, Dana Wilson.

Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
