Local students named to honors lists

The University of Georgia announced the names of undergraduate students who were named presidential scholars or achieved the dean’s list for fall semester of 2009.

Students from Bainbridge who were among UGA’s presidential scholars were Katie Jo Green, a senior in the College of Education; and Kristin Dee-Dee Edwards, a professional in the College of Pharmacy.

Megan Jeanette Baggett, a professional from Whigham in the College of Pharmacy, was also a presidential scholar.

Students from Bainbridge who were named to UGA’s dean’s list for Fall 2009, including their class and college of study, were Jared Lee Dowdy, junior, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Gratten Joseph Ward, junior, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Amelia Ann Kirbo, junior, Education; Abraham “Abe” Conger Varner II, senior, Public and International Affairs; Nina Cathleen Dobbs, senior, Public Health; and Laura Ashley Sims, a professional from Brinson studying in the College of Pharmacy.

Garrett Lyle Collins, a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences from Donalsonville, was also named to the dean’s list.

The presidential scholar designation recognizes undergraduates who have scored a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the semester.

Students named to the dean’s list have earned a 3.5 grade point average or higher out of a possible 4.0.

Both designations require that students take at least 14 credit hours and receive no unsatisfactory or incomplete grades.
