Funeral services for Amos Breedlove Jr., 71, of Bainbridge, were held Tuesday, Jan. 19, at First African Baptist Church with Dr. A.L. Thompson Sr. officiating.

The Rev. John D. Thomas Sr. was the eulogist.

Interment followed in Breedlove Cemetery in Decatur County with Amos Breedlove III, Jerome Breedlove, Jerrell Breedlove, Martone Breedlove and members of the Moore family serving as active pallbearers.

Born Nov. 20, 1939, Mr. Breedlove died on Jan. 8, 2010, in Newark, N.J.

Mr. Breedlove graduated from Hutto High School and left Bainbridge at age 17, moving to Rochester, N.Y., in 1956. He moved to Newark, N.J., in 1957. He worked as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by a nephew and four nieces.

Survivors include his wife, Gussie “Ann” Moore Breedlove of Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Bainbridge; three sons, Amos Breedlove III, Jerrell Breedlove and Tyrone Breedlove, all of Atlanta; a daughter, Terries Breedlove Sterling of Atlanta; five sisters, Alberta Sharpton, Aline Breedlove, Mary Breedlove and Flora Pearl Burrough, all of Newark, N.J., as well as Martha Ann Breedlove Pearson of Bainbridge; two brothers, Rufus Breedlove of Deltona, Fla., and Jerome Breedlove of Bainbridge; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Guyton Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
