Stephanye Inlow Peek, daughter of Emmett Inlow of Bainbridge and physical education specialist at Blackwell Elementary School in Cobb County, received numerous education honors in 2008 and 2009.
In November 2008 in Savannah, she was selected the Georgia Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (GAHPERD) Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year.
While attending the GAHPERD convention, she was elected president-elect for the 2008-2009 school year. Over the last year, she has attended many leadership development conferences and she is serving as president in 2010.
She remembers one of those conferences, held in Washington, D.C., as being very special.
“At the Washington, D.C., conference, I met Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson,” she said. “It is great to have him and many other senators and representatives promoting health and physical education in our nation’s schools.”
Peek also attended the American Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) national convention in Tampa, Fla., last April. In June, she and her vice president-elect attended the leadership development conference in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
This fall, she served as convention director for the Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 GAHPERD Convention in Atlanta. It was attended by more than 350 health, physical educators, recreation directors, college and university professors and future professionals.
Peek is married to Dale Peek, CEO and architect of Peek Design Group, and they have two sons, Jonathan and Joshua.
