Funeral services for Irene Barber Spooner, 78, of Bainbridge, were held Tuesday, Jan. 5, in the chapel of Ivey Funeral Home with the Revs. Stanley Phillips and Randall Terry officiating.
Interment followed at Cool Springs Cemetery with Zane Allen, Brad Kelley, Blake Kelley, Bobby Barber, James Harvey Stewart and John Timmons serving as active pallbearers.
Born Oct. 18, 1931, in Decatur County, Mrs. Spooner died on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at her home.
Mrs. Spooner was raised on a farm and worked for several years as a bookkeeper. She retired as a lunchroom manager with the Decatur County School System. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jesse Spooner of Bainbridge; two brothers, William Lee Barber of Bainbridge and Nelson Barber of Climax; three sisters, Sara Bellflower, Juanita Talbert and Mildred Sapp, all of Bainbridge; and many nieces and nephews.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
