Adams first-team punter on two All-State teams

First-team All-Region 1AAAA punter and place kicker Keenan Adams has been selected the first-team punter on two Georgia High School All-State teams.
He is first-team, All-State punter on the Class AAAA Georgia Sportswriters All-State team and first-team All-State punter on the Class AAAA Atlanta Journal-Constitution All-State team.
Adams, a 5-foot-8, 162-pound junior, led Region 1AAAA in punting with a 39.8 yards per punt average.
He had five punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line and a long punt of 61 yards. Of his 33 punts, 13 were fair caught and four were returned for just 26 yards.
Adams was one of three players from Region 1AAAA named to the Georgia Sportswriters Class AAAA All-State team.
Also representing Region 1AAAA on the Georgia Sportswriters Class AAA All-State first were Upson-Lee High School Knights tight end Logan Winkles, a 6-foot, 240-pound senior; and Westside Macon High School Seminoles defensive lineman Owen Williams, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound junior.
Winkles and Williams, like Adams, were first-team, All-Region 1AAAA selections.
Winkles had 15 pancake blocks.
Williams had 15 sacks, 75 tackles and one fumble recovery.
Region 1AAAA players joining Adams on The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s All-State Class AAAA first team were Winkles and wide receiver Ronald Carswell of the Westside Macon High School Seminoles.
Carswell, a 6-foot, 180-pound senior, was third in the Region in reception yards for the regular season and first in overall touchdowns with seven.
In Region play, Carswell had 32 receptions for 546 yard and six touchdowns. Overall he had 41 receptions for 714 yards and seven touchdowns.
An all-around athlete, Adams was also named first-team All-Region 1AAAA as a soccer midfielder and forward by the Region coaches last spring. He scored 15 goals while helping lead coach Brian McCorkle’s Bearcats to an outstanding 11-3 record.
He was named most improved player at the end of the year soccer awards banquet.
