Funeral services for Montine Collins Vickers, 82, of Whigham, Ga., were held on Saturday, Dec. 12, at Magnolia Baptist Church in Whigham with interment following in the church’s cemetery.

Born July 3, 1927, in Grady County, Mrs. Vickers died on Dec. 8, 2009.

On Nov. 1, 1943, she married Willard Vickers, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2002.

Mrs. Vickers was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church and a homemaker. She had worked with Whigham Banking Company and the Grady County Tag Dept. office with the late Tom Walker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Vickers.

Survivors include her sons, Derrick Vickers of Whigham, Darwin Vickers of Walden, N.Y.; a sister, Doris C. Poppell of Whigham; grandchildren, Michelle West of Cairo, Clifton Vickers of Whigham, Bryan Vickers of Ranger, Ga., Devona Pickles of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jason Vickers of Albany, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Clark Funeral Home in Cairo was in charge of arrangements.
