Apprenticeship is good experience

Vonda Hubbard was elected as Teacher of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year. She teaches business education at Bainbridge High School.

I would personally like to thank Mrs. Hubbard for always displaying a positive attitude in her work and for always being quick to offer advice when needed.

While being affiliated with the BHS Youth Apprenticeship Program, Mrs. Hubbard has taught me to always exert my best effort and to be timely about it.

Sure, time sheets and work logs are not my favorite things to do, but Mrs. Hubbard is always willing to help, and when I make a mistake, she points it out to me so I can learn from it and not make that mistake again next time.

Over the course of first semester, I have learned so many things that I never knew about the career in which I am apprenticing, at The Post-Searchlight, and I absolutely love it.

Mrs. Hubbard has encouraged me, as well as all other youth apprentices, to stick with it, and for that, I am truly grateful.

My knowledge of the press and all of the involved processes has expanded dramatically, and I really enjoy the opportunity I have been given.

Also, I would like to thank Carol Heard, the managing editor at The Post-Searchlight for being very patient and for offering constructive criticism to help me to become a better journalist, student, and overall better worker.

My experience as an apprentice has been very worthwhile, and I now possess knowledge that I more than likely never would have gained had I not been involved in this unique program.

I am looking forward to next semester and further increasing my skills and knowledge as an apprentice. Thank you ladies for your patience and instructions as I have begun this exciting new journey in my life.
