The Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society is offering an easy way to send holiday greetings and help out needy animals at the same time.
The Humane Society has a number of gift cards made by Amy Schmeling of Tallahassee, Fla., who is a Humane Society volunteer in addition to being a foster mother.
Proceeds from sales of the gift cards, which are available for all holidays (including Christmas and New Year’s) will benefit operation of the Bainbridge Animal Shelter. The shelter takes in and cares for many young and adult cats and dogs each year, providing basic nutrition and other health care.
Cards are available in the following amounts, along with the services they will help fund:
$150-$250, heartworm treatments for specific dogs; $75, spay-neuter for one dog; $50 spay-neuter for one cat; $30, annual vaccines for four dogs or cats; $15, dog toy pack; and $10, cat toy pack.
The Humane Society is also accepting donations of canned pet food, toys and treats. To buy holiday card packs and find out other ways you can help, stop by the shelter on Cox Avenue near the Earle May Boat Basin, call (229) 246-0101, email bainbridgedchs@bellsouth.net or visit the Humane Society’s Web site at www.bainbridgehumanesociety.com
