The Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats wrestling team turned in some good performances recently in a three-way meet with the Lee County Middle School Trojans and Crisp County Middle School Cougars in Leesburg and at the Lowndes County Middle School Vikings Invitational in Valdosta.

The Bearcats started out strong against the Trojans, defeating their first three opponents by pin.

Jake Reynolds defeated both his Trojan and Cougar opponents by pin.

Charles Emanuel won a first-place medal at Lowndes County. Wrestling in the 200-pound weight class, he won all four of his matches by pin.

Bearcats middle school coach Chad Smith describes Emanuel’s improvement as very outstanding.

“Charles Emanuel has improved so much,” he said. “He really looked like a varsity wrestler out there. Last year he received a third-place at Lowndes County.”

Bearcat Hunter Long won a second-place medal, pinning all four of his opponents in the first round.

Agipito Estala took third place with a 3-2 record, pinning three opponents.

“Overall, I was impressed with the performance of all our guys at Lowndes County,” Smith said. “They should be very proud and excited about the upcoming rest of the season.”
