The Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA under 10 soccer team are district champions.

They captured the championship by posting three straight victories by scores of 8-3, 7-2 and 7-0.

They will play in the state tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4 and 5, in Gainesville. Opponents and game times are to be determined.

YMCA Executive Director Ken Bailey said a number of players were instrumental in the victory.

“We had an explosive offense,” Bailey said.

It was led by Caleb Harris, Gino Palloti and Dennis Flores, he said.

“The defense was solid as well. It was led by Mary Mercer Reynolds in goal and Alex Soden at fullback,” Bailey said.

Bailey said Soden stopped everything that came near his fullback position.

‘”With Alex Soden at fullback and Mary Mercer Reynolds in goal, it was very difficult to penetrate our defense,” Bailey said. “The offense and defense were both very aggressive throughout the three games.”
