Our spiritual coma

The church of the living God seems to have drifted into a state of prolonged unconsciousness from which it is difficult or impossible to rouse it out of that state.

Jesus said it best in St. Matthew 15:8-9, “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”

God pleaded with the Jews through Jeremiah, which lets us know this has happened several times in the past. God asked this question, “Hath a nation changed their Gods, which are yet no gods?”

But my people have changed their glory for that which doeth not profit.

Jeremiah in letting them know what God had told him said, “My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken, my children are gone forth of me, and they are not, there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains,” Jeremiah 10:21.

For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the Lord: therefore, they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.

It seems and is all together evident money is the driving force behind the church world today.

The biggest building, painted windows, then in turn begging for money to pay for it all just to add more buildings later on, meaning material things, not spiritual, are more important.

When looking in the word of God we find the Apostles were more concerned about souls coming to God then to build fancy building’s (Acts 2:46, Acts 11:14, Acts 21:8).

The Apostle Paul said in Romans 16:5, “Likewise greet the church that is in their house.”

The same is written in 1st Corinthians 16:19, Colossians 4:15 and Philemon 1:2; churches in homes were not uncommon. They let God give the increase (1st Corinthians 3:6).

Again in Jeremiah 12:10-11, “Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.”

The Apostle Paul said 1 Corinthians 3:8, “Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.”

In 1 Corinthians 3:7 Paul said, “So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”

Jesus, when he sent the disciples out to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, he instructed them to go, preach, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses.”

They did not have to plead for money, verse 10 said for the workman is worthy of his meat.

The Apostle Paul told Titus in Titus 2:1, “But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine.”

In Titus 2:12 he said, “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly, in this present world.”

The Apostle Paul was telling the Ephesians some of the duties of the Christian, he said in Ephesians 5:1, “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children.”

He said in Ephesians 5:8, “For ye were sometimes in darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.”

He also said in Ephesians 5:14-17, “Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”

So many of the church body forget in redeeming the time God has so gracefully given us, and we get caught up in worldly things and allow our time for God to get cut short. This in turn allows one to be lulled asleep by the things the world has to offer.

The Bible teaches us that in the last days perilous times shall come. What more do we have to see and hear about to know those days are here now?

A Spiritual Coma is sweeping the church world today as the Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 3:13-14, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.”

This Spiritual Coma will cause as it has, to turn away there ears from the truth, and shall be turned into fables. Has our nation changed its God?
