Worthy events

Two of the best events organized for the community will be on Thursday—the community health fair sponsored by Memorial Hospital and Manor and the Chef’s Sampler sponsored by the Bainbridge-Decatur County Council for the Arts.

For more than 10 years, Memorial Hospital and Manor has sponsored the free health fair for those in the community who wanted to get low-cost blood analysis and free screenings.

During that time, diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, glaucoma and other serious illnesses have been detected in participants, which led to proper diagnosis and life-saving treatments.

The health fair will be at Bainbridge Mall from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

They recommend you fast beginning at midnight the night before to going to health fair for more accurate test results, which would also be a good thing if you decided to pig out at the Chef’s Sampler that evening.

Fourteen restaurants and caterers (plus the Book Nook donating the wine) have generously agreed to feed the masses.

The Sampler’s proceeds will go toward future maintenance of the historic Firehouse Center and Gallery as well as provide scholarships for its summer art camps.

A nice twist to the Sampler is that when you come to feast you’re asked to bring food items to help feed Bainbridge’s needy.

Go hungry.
