Veterans Day ceremonies set

Thirty-year retired U.S. Army veteran and Bainbridge College Director of Business and Industry Services Gean Hendrix, and National Guard Command Sgt. Major Chuck Crews will be featured speakers at local Wednesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day ceremonies.
Hendrix will speak at 9 a.m. during the Willis Park ceremonies, sponsored by American Legion Posts 62 and 502.
Crews will speak at a Charles H. Kirbo Regional Center noon luncheon, sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4904.
Park ceremonies will begin with the presentation of colors by Bainbridge High School Air Force Junior ROTC cadets and the playing of the National Anthem by the BHS Marching Bearcat Band.
Post 62 Commander Bob Strickland will give the welcome and the Rev. Stephen Webb, pastor of the Bainbridge First United Methodist Church, will give the invocation.
VFW Post 4904 Commander Hill Yates and Commander Leepoula Wise or adjutant Herbert Smiley of American Legion Post 502, will place a wreath on the park monument commemorating deceased Decatur County veterans of all wars.
The park ceremonies will conclude with the benediction by the Rev. Webb and the reading of the names of Decatur County veterans, who have died since Veterans Day 2008.
