BHS win cross country championships

Coach Mandi O’Mara’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats and Bearcats cross country teams captured the team championships in the Oct. 17th Northview High School Lady Cougars and Cougars Invitational in Dothan, Ala.

Lady Cat April Thomas won the girls individual championship, and Cody Heard finished second in the boys division, highlighting the Bainbridge teams’ efforts

Thomas, who set a course record in winning the 10th annual Bearcats Invitational girls championship completing the 3.1-mile course in a time of 19 minutes, 30 seconds, won the Northview championship in a time of 20:24.19.

Thomas’ Lady Cats teammate Kylie McGlincey was third in the girls division in a time of 23:02.46.

Heard’s second-place boys time at Northview was 18:07.66. His Bearcats teammate Erick Juarez was fifth in a time of 18:24.71. The boys individual championship was won by Ryan Overstreet of the homestanding Northview Cougars in a time of 16:25.54.

Other Bearcats finishing in the top 15 included Javius Mitchell, who was sixth in a time of 18:50.52; Davey Reynolds, who was seventh in a time of 18:50.70, and Dylan Faircloth, who was eighth in a time of 19:07.03.

Taking 12th through 15th were Cole Farrington in a time of 19:23.54; Titus Madge in a time of 19:23,95; Antonio Anderson in a time of 19:55.56, and Austin Hand in a time of 20:00.24.

Bainbridge runners in the top 10 behind Thomas and McGlincey in the girls division were Amber Braswell, who was fourth in a time of 23:25.81; Anna Jordan, who was sixth in a time of 24:01.47; Caroline Rollins, who is seventh in a time of 24:06.04; Anne Reynolds, who was eighth in a time of 24:16.12; Ashton Oldaker, who was ninth in a time of 24:21.52, and Aquerira Bennett, who was 10th in a time of 25:22.33.

Lady Cats taking 11th through 15th in the girls division in times of 25:32,03, 25:46.37, 26:29.40, 27:11.01 and 27:29.58 were Ansley Phillips, Savannah Cook, Brittany Williams, Jasmine West and Hanna Williams.

Sixteenth, 17th and 18th Lady Cats finishers were McKenzie Condor in a time of 27:32.18; Tiffany Pearson in a time of 27:36.21, and Debbie Pedro in a time of 27:41.75.
