Funeral services for Terry Dewayne Kirkland Jr., also known as “T.J.,” 28, of Marietta, Ga., were held on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the chapel of Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Cairo, Ga., with the Rev. Wes Hardin officiating.

Interment will follow in the Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery in Whigham, Ga.

Born in Thomasville, Ga., on Sept. 13, 1981, Mr. Kirkland died on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, in Dothan, Ala., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Kirkland worked as an heating, ventilating and air-conditioning technician and was of the Baptist faith. He loved the outdoors, football, riding his motorcycle and shooting pool.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Melanie Collins Thomas and Mehdi Thomas of Buford, Ga.; father and stepmother, Terry Dewayne and Anita Kirkland of Cottonwood, Ala.; three brothers, Matthew Eakin of Valdosta, Ga., Joshua Kirkland of Marietta and Reid Kirkland of Cottonwood; his maternal grandparents, William and Linda Collins of Whigham, Ga.; and his special little nephew, William Hunter Eakin of Valdosta.

Clark Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of funeral arrangements.
