Martin-Wells qualifies for Bassmaster Classic
Bainbridge professional angler Pam Martin-Wells has become the second woman angler in history to qualify for the prestigious Bassmaster Classic.
Kim Bain-Marie of Alabaster, Ala., the 2008 Angler of the Year, was the first, earning a berth in the 2009 Classic.
Martin-Wells qualified for the 2010 Bassmaster Classic by winning the coveted 2009 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Women’s Tour Angler of the Year trophy after finishing second in the Academy Sports and Outdoors Bassmaster Women’s on Louisiana’s Cypress Black Bayou Lake.
“Words can’t describe this,” Martin-Wells told the Louisiana weigh-in audience. “I can walk through the living room and see a a commercial on TV for the Bassmaster Classic. I freeze, watch it and get goose bumps. Now I’m going to get them for real. It’s going to be an awesome experience,”
