Ronald Harrell

Funeral services for Dr. Ronald E. Harrell, 73, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held on Monday, Oct. 12, at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville with the Rev. Kirk Loyless officiating.
Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery with Brian Harrell, Bob Youmans, Gene Drake, Carey Horne, Chip Stewart and Kevin Lewis serving as active pallbearers.
Born Dec. 21, 1935, in Donalsonville, Ga., Dr. Harrell died on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at his residence.
Dr. Harrell graduated from Seminole County High School, after which he attended Emory University School of Dentistry. He graduated from Emory in 1959, at which time he returned to Donalsonville to begin his dental practice. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Southwestern District Dental Society, the Georgia Academy of Dental Practice, the American Association of Dental Examiners and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Harrell served five years as a member of the Georgia Board of Dentistry, the state regulatory agency for the profession. He was awarded an Honorable Fellowship by the Georgia Dental Association in 1976. Dr. Harrell was president of the board during 1977 and 1978. He was elected president of the Georgia Dental Association in 1982. Dr. Harrell was in practice for 49 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sissy Harrell of Donalsonville; two daughters, Virginia Hatch of Austin, Texas, and Marilyn Notte of Dunwoody, Ga.; six grandchildren, an aunt, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, numerous cousins and several nieces and nephews.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
