A memorial service for Robert Kennington “Big Bob” Gordin Jr., 62, of Bainbridge, was held Sunday, Oct. 11, at 814 S. West St. in Bainbridge.

Born Jan. 20, 1947, in Jackson, Miss., Mr. Gordin died on Oct. 3, 2009, in Atlanta, Ga., after battling cancer.

Mr. Gordin graduated from Miami (Fla.) Military Academy. He lived in Kansas for many years and later in his life, he lived in Bainbridge and Colquitt, Ga. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Miss., but had attended Eldorendo Baptist Church in Bainbridge for the past two years. His interests included horses, fishing and traveling to visit friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Betsy Breckenridge.

Survivors include his son, Mark C. Gordin of Waterloo, Ill.; a sister, Marian K. Gordon of Atlanta; a cousin, two nephews and other family and friends.

Cremation Society of the South in Stockbridge, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
