The John Johnson Elementary School student council will host a 5,000-meter, 3.1-mile run and one-mile fun run Saturday morning. Entry fee is $15 for the 5,000-meter run and $10 for the fun run. Both runs will begin and end at the school. Registration will begin at 7 a.m.. and the 5,000-meter run will get underway at 8 a.m. The fun run will begin following the finish of the 5,000-meter run. John Johnson media specialist Lisa Enfinger, who co-sponsors the student council with lead resource teacher Tammi Enfinger, says the student council members, who were duly elected by the students, will decide how the money raised from the runs will be used. “The money could be used for teachers classroom needs, new playground equipment or something else,” she said.
