Bainbridge Middle School seventh-grade Bearcats running back Isaiah Brown ran 60 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter Wednesday in Cairo, and Christian Green ran in for the two-point conversion to cut a 24-0 Washington of Cairo seventh-grade Tigers lead to 24-8 only to have the Tigers outscore them 10-0 the rest of the way and post a 34-8 victory.
The game, originally scheduled for Sept. 16, had to be canceled and rescheduled for Wednesday due to lightning.
Bearcats seventh-grade football coordinator David Kirkland said he thought Brown and Green did a good job the entire game, and quarterback Trey Miller ran the offense well.
“Isaiah and Christian both ran hard,” Kirkland said. “I also thought the left side of our offensive line blocked well, Left guard Tony Hurst and left tackle Glenn Cooper did a particularly good job.”
The seventh-grade Bearcats, who are 0-4 on the season, will close out their season next Wednesday, Oct. 14, when they host the McIntyre Park of Thomasville Middle School seventh-grade Bulldogs at 5 p.m. at Centennial Field.
