Gymnast-a-Cats sweep competition

The 29-member Bainbridge Gymnast-a-Cats, coached by Melynda Murkerson and Kristin Logue, won first place in all three levels of competition they entered at the Sunbelt Shindig on Saturday, Oct. 3, in Moultrie.

The levels of competition were Level 2, Level 4 and Level 2 prep optional.

In addition to their first-place team honors, the team won 32 gold medals, 35 silver medals, 21 bronze medals and compiled 57 fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place finishes. T

here were eight teams competing in the meet, including Valdosta, Thomasville, Brunswick, the Albany YMCA and the In Bound gymnasts.

Gymnast-a-Cats competing on the Level 2 team were Gabby Hardee, Anna Lee Lockart, Megan Haire, Ashley Kate Barber, Lanie Birdsong, Karlie Bridges, Emily Chambers, Breanna Dean, McKenzie Findley, Caroline Middleton, Lucy Sloan, McKenna Stegall, Paige Stegall, Sydney Thompson, Kate Vann, Caroline Wells, Abigail Wilson and Sarah-Kaylee Wynn.

On the Level 4 team were Macey Roland, Josie Deal, Briana Mills, Jessie Oliver and Bree Powell.

Haylie Wilkinson competed in Level 6.

The Prep 2 team was made up of Sarah Oliver, Kay Bush and Jeri Sloan, and the Prep 3 team was made up of Emily Perkins and Rachel Oliver, who suffered an injury at the meet but was back at the gym this week encouraging the other gymnasts.
