A Bainbridge toddler was accidentally killed Tuesday when she was run over by a car her mother was trying to back up in the driveway, according to Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Kyle Duke.
Katherine Brown, a 2- to 3-year-old toddler, was among a group of children playing in the front yard of her home, which is located at 2984 Vada Road.
When the little girl’s mother, Elizabeth Brown, was trying to move the car and was backing it up, that’s when Katherine was hit. Duke said there was an assumption among those watching the children that all of them were clear of the vehicle.
The accident happened at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday.
There was a desperate attempt by Trooper Brian Palmer and Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies and other first responders to revive Katherine.
No charges will be filed in the case, Duke said.
