Funeral services for Barbara Duke , 82, of Bainbridge, formerly of Attapulgus, will be held Thursday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. at Attapulgus United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Hurley officiating.
Interment will follow in Attapulgus Cemetery with friends and relatives serving as active pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cox-Ware Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 11, 1927, in Decatur County, Mrs. Duke died on Monday, Oct. 5, at Memorial Manor in Bainbridge after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Duke was retired from working with the Decatur County Board of Education’s food services department. She was an active member of Attapulgus United Methodist Church. She loved quilting, family, reading, aerobics and bird watching.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Clarke Duke Sr., and a daughter, Kathryn Jean Duke.
Survivors include her daughter, Joy Duke Barrett of Tallahassee, Fla.; her son, John Clarke Duke Jr.; a sister, Mary Ann Belcher of Bainbridge; a brother, Donald Belcher of Bainbridge; two grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, eight great-grandchildren and a host of very special nieces and nephews.
Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
