A memorial service for Robert Elmer Nelson, 73, of Donalsonville, Ga., was held on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the First Presbyterian Church in Donalsonville with the Revs. Tim Bell and David Jamison officiating.

Born Sept. 2, 1936, in Providence, R.I., Mr. Nelson died on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Nelson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a retired sales manager. Mr. Nelson served his country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Nelson of Donalsonville; a son, Kraig Alan Nelson of Decatur, Ala.; a sister, Shirley DeJong of Lake Okeechobee, Fla.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
