Funeral services for Hazel Christine McLendon, 80, of Bainbridge, Ga., were held on Monday, Sept. 21, at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, Ga., with the Rev. Eric Boomer officiating.

Interment followed in Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, Ga., with Jeff Sherrer, Heath Sherrer, Chris Buckhalter, Josh Bird, Brent Bird and Anthony Bird serving as active pallbearers.

Born Oct. 12, 1928, in Donalsonville, Ga., Mrs. McLendon died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene McLendon; one brother, Robert B. Daniels; two sisters, Marie Phillips and Ollie Mae Duke; one son, Junior Bird; one daughter, Delores Bird, and one granddaughter, Liza Bird.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Bird of Bainbridge, Ga., Bobby Bird of Bainbridge, Ga., and Joe Bird of Lake Wales, Fla.; one sister, Midred Cason of Hudson, Fla.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
