Godwin receives Regions Bank scholarship

Regions Financial Corp. recently announced that Kayla Godwin, recent graduate of Bainbridge High School, was awarded a 2009-2010 Regions Dependent Scholarship.

Godwin is one of 19 high school students receiving this scholarship that is offered to dependents of Regions’ associates. Godwin is attending Mercer University.

“One of our corporate values is to ‘reach higher,’ and this scholarship program is an extension of this value because it gives our associates’ children an opportunity to realize their potential,” said Joey Miller, city president. “At Regions, our mission is to make life better. Offering these scholarships is just one way we strive to do this for our associates.”

The scholarships are valued up to $7,000 per year and renewable over four years, a total of up to $28,000. Scholarship winners were selected on proven academic achievement, strong extracurricular and community involvement, a written essay and financial need.

A committee selected the 19 scholarship recipients from nearly 100 applications.
