Funeral services for Shirley Howard Harrell, 69, of Bainbridge, will be held Sunday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. at Bainbridge Church of God with the Revs. Dan Tomberlin and David Grubbs officiating.

Interment will follow at Mount Gillead Baptist Church Cemetery with Lee Howard, Brandon Howard, Joey Howard, Lindsey Merritt, Jackie Vickers and Roy Howard Jr. serving as active pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cox-Ware Funeral Home.

Born Jan. 25, 1940, in Decatur County, Ga., Mrs. Harrell died on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.

Having lived in Decatur County for most of her life, Mrs. Harrell was a member of the Bainbridge Church of God. She was employed as a certified nursing assistant with Memorial Manor and Willow Ridge Assisted Living. She loved working, shopping and going to hear gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, the Rev. Kelly C. Harrell.

Survivors include her son, Rodrick “Red” Harrell of Bainbridge; three brothers, Roy Howard, Bobby Howard and Ricky Howard, all of Bainbridge; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
