Mary Hawkins

Funeral services for Mary Ola Hawkins, 81, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Oakview Church of God in Donalsonville with the Rev. Mylan Brookins officiating.

Interment followed in the church’s cemetery with Scott Howard, Phillip Spooner, Matthew Brookins, Ryan Worsley, Brad Thompson and Jack Herring serving as active pallbearers.

Born Nov. 28, 1927, in Colquitt, Ga., Mrs. Hawkins died on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Mrs. Hawkins was a homemaker and a faithful member of Oakview Church of God. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of the Prime Timers and Women of Grace. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walton Hawkins; two brothers, Vernon Bush and Sidney Bush; a sister, Margaret Boling; and one great-grandchild, C.J. Polk.

Survivors include three daughters, Glenda Howard of Jakin, Ga., Charlotte Roberts of Donalsonville, Ga., and Debbie Brookins of Screven County, Ga.; three sisters, Waver Moore of Atlanta, Ga., Bernice Miller of Donalsonville and Coy Smith of Dallas, Ga.; one brother, Glen Bush of Orange, Texas; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
