Funeral services for Zelda Sanders Hiers, 99, of Havana, Fla., will be held Sunday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m. at Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Roy Harrison, Don Hazen and Jon Mizell officiating.
Interment will follow at Tired Creek Cemetery with Steven Childs, Russell Childs, A.J. Childs, Keith Harrison, Adam Harris, Walt Landrum, Wally Landrum and Kenneth Harrison serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Born May 12, 1910, in Decatur County, Ga., Mrs. Hiers died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare in Tallahassee, Fla.
Mrs. Hiers was a homemaker and a member of Little River Primitive Baptist Church in Quincy, Fla.
She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, William Turner Hiers; a sister, Ruby S. Faircloth; and a brother, Emory Sanders.
Survivors include her daughters, Thelma Hiers Harrison of Bainbridge and Yvonne Hiers Childs of Pelham, Ga; a son, William Turner Hiers Jr. of Havana; a sister, Lillian S. Durham; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Clark Funeral Home in Cairo, Ga., is in charge of funeral arrangements.
