Mainous Whittaker

Funeral services for Mainous Whittaker, 74, of Donalsonville, Ga., will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Bell officiating.
Interment to follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville with Ted Newberry, Craig Pierce, E.C. Bridges, Craig Earnest, Alex Jernigan and Ed King serving as pallbearers.
Born Sept. 5, 1934, in Donalsonville, Mr. Whittaker died on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Whittaker was a member of the Donalsonville Church of Christ, the Donalsonville Country Club and organized the Jaycees organization in Donalsonville. He owned and operated Whittaker Insurance Agency from 1973 until 1991. Mr. Whittaker had served as the Seminole County Magistrate Judge since 2003.
He was preceded in death by his father, E.D. Whittaker; a brother, Elliott Whittaker Jr., and a sister, Rochelle Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia Brookins Whittaker of Donalsonville; his mother, Valeta Faircloth Whittaker of Donalsonville; a daughter, Dawn Dallas of Dothan, Ala.; three sons, Greg Whittaker of Donalsonville, Howard Whittaker of Dothan, Ala., and Dave Whittaker of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, E.J. Whittaker of Dothan, Ala.; a sister, Shelvia Jean Payne of Liberty, N.C.; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
