State graduation test requirements, aids

Published 4:17 pm Tuesday, September 1, 2009

In addition to meeting all course requirements, passing scores in English/language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and writing areas of the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) are required for a diploma.

Students who do not pass one or more parts of the required test prior to graduation will receive a Certificate of Performance, not a diploma.

Students receiving a Certificate of Performance can continue to retake the GHSGT and will be issued a diploma based on the school year in which all portions of the GHSGT are passed.

Former students who received a Certificate of Performance must register with Eve Stubbs (BHS Guidance Department) to retake the GHSGT then report to the Guidance Department at 7:45 a.m. on the date of the retest.

Students who have not passed all portions of the GHSGT, but have met course requirements, will receive a Certificate of Performance, not a diploma.

Students who have met attendance requirements, actively participated in remediation opportunities (before/after/Saturday/summer school, documented online review, study skills courses) and have taken advantage of retest opportunities may appeal to the Graduation Review Committee for approval to participate in the graduation ceremony. Students receiving a Certificate of Performance are not eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony without approval of the Graduation Review Committee.

GHSGT retests will be administered in September on the Bainbridge High School campus at One Bearcat Boulevard. Report to Guidance at 7:45 a.m.
