Funeral services for Margaret Lunsford Thompson, 76, of Bainbridge, Ga., will be Friday, Aug. 21, at 4 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Stanley Phillips and Bill Jennings officiating.
Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery with Ned Bryan, Ted Bryan, W.C. Calhoun, David Hill, Bobby Hill and Kenneth Haire serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home.
Born on Nov. 7, 1932, in Colquitt, Ga., Mrs. Thompson died on Aug. 18, 2009, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Thompson met and married the love of her life, Edward, and had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 24, 2009. She worked with Decatur County Schools for a short time and as a florist. She was also a homemaker and enjoyed preparing meals for the senior’s weekly luncheon at Faceville Baptist Church. She was instrumental is raising funds for The Cool Springs Cemetery Memorial Fund where she served as treasurer for many years and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Lunsford and John Lunsford.
Survivors include her husband, Edward “Ed” Thompson of Bainbridge, Ga.; two sons, Earl Thompson and Devin Thompson, both of Bainbridge, Ga.; two daughters, Donna Bryan of Bainbridge, Ga., and Teresa Barnett of Boca Raton, Fla.; two brothers, Larry Lunsford of Claremont, Fla., and Don Lunsford of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Laverne VanOrman of Dade City, Fla., and Trenia Blosser of Okeechobee, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
