Funeral services for Ola Mae Jones, 96, of Havana, Fla., will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at Palace African Methodist Episcopal Church in Havana Fla., with the Rev. A. Jackson officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Zion A.M.E. Church cemetery in Havana with friends of Mrs. Jones’ family serving as active pallbearers.
Visitation will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Born June 15, 1913, in Havana, Mrs. Jones died on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Fla.
Mrs. Jones was a retired teacher from the Gadsden County, Fla., school system. She also worked for Gayfers department store in Tallahassee. She was an alumnus of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee and was a member of Palace A.M.E. Church in Havana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Jones.
Survivors include a daughter, Daisey Jones Hayes of Tallahassee; a grandson, a great-grandson and other relatives.
Chandler’s Funeral Home in Attapulgus is in charge of funeral arrangements.
