A funeral service for Melton McLendon, 67, of Climax, Ga., will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Milton Harrison and Rev. Tim Harrell officiating.

Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery, with Dennis Boatwright, Scott McLendon, Blake McLendon, Travis McLendon, Bruce McLendon and Billy Cross serving as active pallbearers.

Born June 3, 1942, in Decatur County, Mr. Melton died on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.

He was a welder and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Cross McLendon of the Vada community; his son, Steve McLendon of Bainbridge; his daughter, Melissa Reynolds of Brinson; several brothers and sisters; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
