Marine thanks cadets for letters
U.S. Marine Robin Kennedy, a 1998 Bainbridge High School graduate where he was an Air Force Junior ROTC cadet, and his wife, Rebecca, made a special visit to BHS Air Force Junior ROTC program director Col. Gary Breedlove recently.
Kennedy, son of Randall and Nancy Kennedy, and grandson of Bainbridge American Legion Post 62 Commander Bob Strickland, came by to thank Col. Breedlove and his cadets for the letters they sent him while he was stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“The letters were very motivating,” he said. “Even when I couldn’t write back, just hearing from home kept me going.”
Kennedy has been in the Marines for 11 years, and he was recently selected for promotion to gunnery sergeant. He and his wife have a daughter, Katelyn, and a son, Cole.
During the school year, BHS Air Force Junior ROTC cadets write letters once a week to former cadets serving in Iraq and Afghanistan just to say hello from Bainbridge and let them know what’s going on in the local are
