Funeral services for Merle Muggridge Moore, 93, of Cairo, were held Monday, July 20, in the chapel of Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Cairo, Ga., with the Rev. Robert Crapps officiating.

Interment followed at Butler Cemetery in Whigham.

Born in Cairo, Ga., on Feb. 18, 1916, Mrs. Moore died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Thomasville, Ga.

Prior to moving to Golden Living Center, Mrs. Moore was a resident of Magnolia Place in Cairo.

Mrs. Moore was a homemaker. She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Whigham, Ga., and a member of the Town and Country Garden Club.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Olin Moore, a granddaughter, Leslie Griffin; and three brothers, Elmer Muggridge, Ralph Muggridge and Harry Muggridge.

Mrs. Moore is survived by five daughters, Carol Rozier of Thomasville, Karen Mills of Climax, Cheryl Bulloch and Lois Ellen Elrod, both of Pelham, Ga., and Theresa Atwater of Starkville, Miss.; two sons, Emmett Moore and Devane Moore, both of Whigham; two brothers, Bill Muggridge of Thomasville and Wh. Muggridge of Macon, Ga.; two sisters, Mary McDuffie and Joyce Pickens, both of Cairo; a sister-in-law, Thelma Muggridge of Bainbridge; 14 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and two special friends, Emily Gandy and Eloise Borden.

Clark Funeral Home in Cairo was in charge of funeral arrangements.
