An armed robbery occurred Thursday night at the Kangaroo Express convenience store located at 401 Colquitt Hwy., also known as U.S. 27 North.

Two masked men entered the store at around 10:40 p.m., one wielding a small black handgun, and demanded the money from the cash register.

According to incident reports, one of the robbers grabbed the store’s clerk by the arm while she was washing dishes and led her to the front of the store. The second robber entered the store carrying the gun and ordered her to open the cash register.

The robbers exited the store on foot taking with them an undisclosed amount of money.

Bainbridge Public Safety officer and Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and began searching the area behind the store and the surrounding area.

Bainbridge Public Safety Investigator Frank Green said it is believed the men were dropped off and then picked up by a vehicle to commit the robbery.
