Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Rice Brookins, 58, of Donalsonville, Ga., will be held Wednesday, July 15 in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville.
Born Nov. 24, 1950 in Taylor, Ala., Mrs. Brookins passed away Sunday, July 12 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.
Mrs. Brookins grew up in Taylor, Ala. She was a 1969 alumnus of Rehobeth High School and later earned an LPN degree from Wallace Community College. During a long career, Mrs. Brookins had worked at Jones Farm Equipment, Southwest Georgia Farm Credit and was the City Magistrate in Dothan during the late 1970s. She worked for Dr. Homer Breckenridge Jr. and was most recently employed at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge in the office of Dr. Shawn Surratt.
Mrs. Brookins was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joyce Rice Laney; and two brothers, Eudon Rice and John Huey Rice.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Brookins of Donalsonville; two daughters, Suzanne Hammitt of Dothan and Julie M. Brookins of Donalsonville; a brother, Joe Rice of Dothan; an uncle, aunt, and a host of other family and friends.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
