Funeral services for Larry Maynard Kirksey, 57, Colquitt, Ga., will be held Wednesday, July 15 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, Ga. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Milton Pate officiating, with active casket bearers will be Ricky King, Kenneth Arnold, Carey Moye, Darryl Griffin, Kevin Long and Carey Carter.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Born in Colquitt, Ga., on December 18, 1951, Mr. Kirksey passed away July 13 at the Miller County Hospital in Colquitt.
Mr. Kirksey graduated from Seminole County High School in 1970. He served his country in the United States Army before working with the Georgia Department of Transportation and Southern Concrete. While in the Army, Mr. Kirksey received the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal and two Army Achievement Medals. He was also stationed at Arlington National Cemetery where he was an accomplished member of the Honor Guard Unit.
Survivors include his parents, Charlie and Bonnie Kirksey of Donalsonville; a son, Brian Kirksey of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Christy Phillips of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Randy Kirksey of Cairo, Ga.; a granddaughter, two nephews, several aunts and uncles.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
