Bainbridge native named top accounting student

Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) recently honored Brenda Jones of Bainbridge as the top accounting student for the 2008-09 academic year.
As the senior accounting graduate with the highest academic average, Jones received a certificate of academic excellence and a cash award of $500 from the Educational Foundation of the Georgia Society of Certified Professional Accounts (CPA).
By providing financial support and recognizing excellence among accounting students and educators in Georgia, the mission of the Foundation is to encourage the best and the brightest individuals in the state to become CPAs.
Jones graduated from GSW summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in Fall 2008. A non-traditional student, Jones is currently continuing her education at Georgia Southwestern by taking additional accounting courses in order to prepare for a career in public accounting. She is a staff accountant at Dowdy and Whittaker CPA’s in Bainbridge.
