Through a revision of the Commercial Truck Driving course and an arrangement between Bainbridge College (BC) and Thomasville’s Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC), commercial truck driving students will have a new classroom option as they start their studies in the BC Commercial Driving Licensing (CDL) Program.
The new courses in the CDL program start July 27 and will be offered in day and in evening sessions in order to make the program more accessible.
Students can choose to take the introductory classroom course, CTDL 1001, at Bainbridge College or at SWGTC’s new facility in Cairo as a transient student from BC.
Hands-on driving courses, CTDL 1002 and CTDL 1003, will be at BC’s new truck driving range on Main Campus in Bainbridge.
Students will register for the courses at Bainbridge College. Those who choose to attend the classroom sessions at SWGTC will register as transient students from BC, said Barbara Stephens, interim chair of the Bainbridge College Technical Studies Division.
Subsequent day and evening CDL sessions are set to start in August and in October and will also offer the two classroom options for the introductory course before the driving experience at the BC Truck Driving Range.
