New pastor appointed for two area churches

The South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church has appointed the Rev. Donna Sue Waller Roberts to serve two churches in Seminole County.
Reynolds Chapel UMC is located at 2676 Burke Road and Georgia Highway 374 and hosts Sunday services at 9:30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. on first and third Sunday nights.
Trinity UMC is located at 5996 Hebrew Road and holds Sunday church services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on second and fourth Sunday nights. Both churches have Bible studies and activities for all age groups.
Rev. Roberts is a native of Auburn, Ala., and is a graduate of Auburn University. She also is a graduate of basic and advanced courses of study offered as theological training by Emory University through the Candler School of Theology.
In addition, she has completed two units (800 hours) of clinical pastoral education through an affiliation with Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, Ga., and has experience as a Hospice chaplin.
Rev. Roberts is a member and ordained deacon with the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Her first appointment in this area was as associate pastor of First United Methodist Church in Bainbridge. She served there for three years.
Her most recent assignment was as the senior pastor for the Faceville charge in south Decatur County. Her appointment at Faceville was for six years.
Prior to becoming a United Methodist pastor, Rev. Roberts worked with college students on American campuses, helping them grow in faith in Jesus Christ. She has taught English as a second language, led Bible Studies with international students and their families, and has personal international experience in missions, having lived abroad, and has visited in 38 countries throughout the world.
She is married to the Rev. Lynn Roberts, the pastor for the Branchville UMC in Mitchell County and Sutton Chapel in Decatur County. He also is a regular columnist with The Post-Searchlight.
