Akins—a four-year starter as goal keeper, who played three years under coach Jamie Ard and one year under coach Brian McCorkle—received the top defensive player award at the recent soccer awards banquet. Sophomore Adams was named the most improved player.

Katie Monson of coach Nicki Shockley’s Lady Cats tennis team was named All-Area as well. She played No. 1 singles and helped lead her team to the Region 1AAAA championship and the Elite 8 round of the state Class AAAA tournament.
