Semi causes downtown power outages

A semi-tractor trailer truck struck a tension wire connected to a utility pole Tuesday morning, causing the tops of two poles to break off and brief power outages in downtown Bainbridge.
Shorlty before 11 a.m. Tuesday, a semi-tractor trailer with a red cab traveling south on Florida Street struck the tension wire while turning onto Jackson Street, according to Bainbridge Public Safety.
The accident caused the tops of two utility poles located behind the Bainbridge Post Office on Jackson Street to completely break off of the poles.
Power was lost at area homes and businesses including the Bainbridge Post Office, The Post-Searchlight and the Decatur County Courthouse.
Law enforcement are currently attempting to locate the semi-truck responsible for the accident.
Georgia Power was able to restore power to the area in approximately 30 minutes.
